INSIDE THE EVENT

What to expect

When your team needs a shared challenge that gets everyone involved, escape room team building gives them a real deadline and plenty to talk about. They’ll need to compare notes, test theories and decide where to focus next. This portable escape room team building event comes to your office, conference room or hotel venue. There’s no enclosed set and nobody gets locked in. Instead, your team works through a communications blackout mission at their table. Each group receives evidence packs, coded cases and mixed media clues. Some answers are in documents, while others are hidden in patterns, objects or simple digital files. The final task is to restore the signal before time runs out. We run the full session, including set-up, hosting and pack-down. Your team can arrive in normal work clothes, take their places and get stuck into the case.

Team Building, Competitive, Problem Solving, Communication, Collaboration Objectives

Event Summary.

This escape room team building event starts with a fictional communications failure. Teams must work out what happened, identify the right sequence of actions and open the final mission case. It has the challenge of a proper escape room, but the whole game runs in an open event space.

We begin with a clear briefing that covers the story, game rules and timer. We then split people into teams, usually with four to six people per puzzle kit. Each person gets a role card, such as Evidence Lead, Decoder or Timekeeper, so everyone has a useful way into the challenge.

The timed game usually lasts 55 minutes. Teams sort dossiers, inspect props, crack codes and unlock cases as they go. Halfway through, roles swap, because a good idea can come from someone who wasn’t leading the first task.

Information exchange adds a useful twist for larger groups. Every team holds information another team needs, so they must decide what to share and when. It creates genuine contact across tables without turning the room into a free for all.

A live Game Master keeps the challenge moving and gives graduated hints when teams need them. Hints count towards the score, alongside completion time. So teams can choose between pressing on alone and using a clue to regain momentum.

This escape room team building event suits mixed groups because it doesn’t rely on fitness, acting or specialist knowledge. There’s no crawling, climbing or timed physical search. People can work seated or standing, and we can provide large print cards, written audio transcripts and clue controller roles where needed.

Allow around 90 minutes for the standard format. That includes a 15 minute briefing, the mission and time for results. If you’ve got a short conference slot, we can run a tighter 45 minute version. For a large attendance, we can bring duplicate kits or plan timed rotations.

After the final answer, we confirm the scores and announce the winning team. You can finish there, or add a short debrief. Our facilitator can use hint choices, role changes and information sharing as practical discussion points, rather than treating the fastest finish as the only result.

We bring the mission packs, lockable cases, coded padlocks, UV torches, evidence, cipher tools, timer and host. Your venue needs tables and chairs, clear routes to exits and access to mains power if we use the timer screen or audio. We confirm the room plan before the day, so the set-up works around your space and safety requirements.

What event leads tell us

Proof from teams who've actually run one.

We have used NewWave Events a couple of times at Kohler. Though we had different event hosts each time both crews were superb, steering the atmosphere and activities with expertise that sets them apart. The activities and equipment were well designed and really helped us improve communications and relationships within our team whilst having fun. Thank you!

FAQ

Practical questions, practical answers.

Can't see your question?

The easiest way to start is a quick call, usually about eight minutes. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just tell us roughly what you’re planning and we’ll talk you through what’s worth knowing. If we’re a good fit, brilliant. If not, you’ll still come away knowing more than you did.

It's a timed group puzzle game. Your team receives clues, documents and physical props, then works out how they connect to complete a shared mission before the countdown ends. It uses an open room and table based format rather than a permanent escape room set.
