INSIDE THE EVENT

What to expect

If your team doesn’t need a hard sell on team building, this is a good place to start. Garden Party & Lawn Games is built for easy conversation, light competition and a more natural kind of mixing, especially when people are meeting across departments or just need a decent social after a busy stretch.

The format is simple. We set up a polished garden party space with a mix of giant games and classic lawn favourites, then your guests dip in and out as they like. Some will play every station. Some will chat with a drink and join when the mood takes them. That flexibility is exactly why it works.

It’s a strong fit for summer parties, BBQs, conference breaks, family days and thank-you events. You get the feel of a proper hosted occasion, not just games dropped on a lawn, and we can keep it loose or add a gentle competitive layer if you want a bit more structure.

Most importantly, it doesn’t ask too much of your group. No experience needed, no athletic streak required, and no pressure to perform in front of the whole company. We bring the kit, run the set-up and manage the flow, so you can enjoy the day with everyone else.

WE KNOW THIS EVENT IS GREAT FOR

Team Building, Competitive, Relaxed, Entertainment, Food & Drink Objectives

Event Summary.

Garden Party & Lawn Games is a relaxed outdoor team event built around familiar games, casual hosting and plenty of breathing space. Think Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, skittles, hoopla, limbo, boules-style challenges and other simple stations that people can join in seconds. Because the games are easy to understand, guests spend less time listening to rules and more time talking to each other.

We usually set everything out across a lawn, terrace or courtyard with clear space between stations. That way, people can move around naturally instead of being locked into one team all afternoon. It works particularly well during arrivals, after lunch, alongside a BBQ, or in that mid-event lull when you want people to re-engage without forcing it.

If you’d like structure, we can add it. Some clients keep the event as open free play. Others prefer a hosted mini tournament, a passport-style trail across stations, or a department leaderboard with short bonus rounds. So you can keep the atmosphere laid-back while still giving people a reason to mix and have a go.

This event suits mixed-energy groups because there isn’t one pace everyone has to follow. Some guests will be competitive. Others will spectate, chat or drop into a couple of games and head back to the seating area. That’s often what makes it more useful than a formal activity, especially if your real goal is networking, morale or getting people who don’t usually cross paths talking to each other.

It’s also a good option when your group includes a wide mix of ages, confidence levels or physical comfort. We can shape the game mix around that. Lower-movement stations are often the best call for guests in smart clothes, and we can include options that work for seated or standing-light play where the venue surface allows. Flat ground matters here, so we’ll always check the space properly before we confirm the plan.

For corporate events, the difference is in the hosting and the finish. We don’t just drop off a few oversized games and disappear. We can provide a host to welcome guests, explain stations, keep scoring moving and gently lift the energy when needed. On top of that, we can build in branded scorecards, deckchairs, parasols, bunting, picnic-style furniture and other garden party touches if you want the day to feel more curated.

Weather is the one thing every organiser worries about, and fairly so. This event is best outdoors, but many of the games can move indoors if your venue has a suitable hall or large covered space. We’ll talk through the wet-weather plan with you in advance, because some games suit indoor use better than others and it’s easier when that decision is made early, not on the morning itself.

As a guide, Garden Party & Lawn Games works well for small groups of 20 to 50, standard socials of 50 to 150, and larger fun day formats with higher guest numbers. The right number of stations depends on whether people are free-roaming or taking part in a scored format. We’ll recommend a sensible set-up based on your group size, timing and venue, then we handle delivery, set-up and collection on the day.

If you want a summer event that feels generous without being overproduced, this is a strong choice. It’s sociable, easy to join and honest about what it does best. It won’t give you deep strategy work or intense problem solving, but it will help people relax, mingle and spend proper time together. For plenty of teams, that’s exactly the point.

What event leads tell us

Proof from teams who've actually run one.

We have used NewWave Events a couple of times at Kohler. Though we had different event hosts each time both crews were superb, steering the atmosphere and activities with expertise that sets them apart. The activities and equipment were well designed and really helped us improve communications and relationships within our team whilst having fun. Thank you!

The easiest way to start is a quick call, usually about eight minutes. You don’t need to have it all figured out. Just tell us roughly what you’re planning and we’ll talk you through what’s worth knowing. If we’re a good fit, brilliant. If not, you’ll still come away knowing more than you did.

The best mix is usually simple, familiar games that people can join without a long briefing. Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, skittles, hoopla, boules or quoits and limbo are popular because they suit mixed groups and create easy conversation. For corporate events, we normally build a blend of low-pressure skill games rather than anything too athletic.
