Creative based
team building events

Put someone who swears they can’t draw in front of a canvas with their team, and funny things start to happen. Creative events take people out of the usual work dynamic. There’s no office pecking order in a drumming session, and job titles don’t mean much in a candle making workshop. Everyone starts in the same boat, so different people step forward and your team spots things they’d never see on a normal workday. You don’t need artistic talent. That’s the whole point.

Why creative team building events
work so well.

Creative events have a nice habit of surprising people, including the ones taking part. Someone who insists they can’t draw ends up making the piece everyone talks about. The quietest person in the room has a brilliant eye for composition. A team that spends its week buried in spreadsheets and calls suddenly gets properly stuck into building, making or performing something together.

That matters. Creative events take away the usual office dynamic. There’s no hierarchy in a drumming circle, and rank doesn’t count for much in a candle making workshop. Everyone starts from the same place, so different people take the lead and teams learn things about each other that a standard workday just doesn’t show.

Alongside the fun of making something, creative events help your team build a few useful habits: being open to trying something new, which helps when unfamiliar problems land at work; confidence to contribute, especially for quieter or newer team members who find their voice in a creative setting; collaborative thinking, where people build on each other’s ideas instead of filtering them out; and energy, because creative activity tends to absorb people and send them away feeling recharged rather than drained.

They’re inclusive by design, too. Your team doesn’t need a background in art, music or performance. These events suit teams where a few voices tend to dominate while others hang back, organisations that want more innovation and lateral thinking, mixed groups with a wide age range or varied backgrounds, and companies where people have been heads down for too long and need a proper change of pace.

Most creative events run in standard indoor spaces and work for groups from around 10 to 150 people. They fit neatly into conference agendas, away days and standalone team events. Get in touch with NewWave Events and we’ll help you find the right activity for your group.
